Tristan was born and raised in Tauranga. He moved to the UK and graduated with honours in Economics from Edinburgh University. After University he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in London where he qualified as a chartered accountant. Tristan has worked in the property industry for over 15 years and has extensive experience in property management, development and investment. Before joining Matua, Tristan was responsible for a $400 million property portfolio including a garden centre and two care homes which he personally directed. In addition to his paid work Tristan likes to do his bit for charity. He has been a trustee of the Rhythm Studio Foundation since 2011 a highly successful UK based music charity. When he lived in the UK he was a governor for a secondary school in Tottenham and he jointly raised $619 thousand for the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal in 2012.
Shortly after getting married, Tristan and his wife decided to move back to his place of birth as they couldn’t think of a better place to live or raise a family. Tristan and his family are loving life in Tauranga and are very grateful that they made the decision to leave the UK when they did.
Tristan enjoys keeping fit and is a keen runner, swimmer and cyclist. Over the years he has completed various marathons and triathlons. Tristan played cricket, rugby and golf to a decent standard at school and beyond but as a new dad with less time on his hands a lot of these sporting activities are increasingly limited to watching rather than partaking in them.
Tristan and his highly professional team pride themselves on being on hand to deal with any issues that may arise. The team at Matua is well known for its willingness to please and residents are always made to feel welcome. The office door is always open in the day if anyone would like to catch up for a chat or to discuss any ideas they may have for the village.
My name is Sue Denham and I am the Sales Manager at Matua Village. I love my job and being able to offer such a top-quality retirement facility as Matua Village to the elderly in our community gives me great personal and professional satisfaction. Life has been very interesting and varied on my way to being here at Matua, with a couple of great careers and lots of stories!
I was a professional model for 20 years, a very exciting and demanding lifestyle in the world of fashion and catwalks. Following my fashion industry experience I gained a position as a buyer for 19 retail fashion stores. As a buyer, I was responsible for sourcing the latest fashions from around the world so I travelled extensively to Europe, China and other parts of Asia.
As a night nurse at Howick Baptist Hospital I gained valuable experience caring for people’s health and wellbeing. I also experienced how a large health orientated organisation was run.
Finally selling residential lifestyle and commercial real estate became my passion for 15 years. I focused on understanding peoples living needs and delivered excellent client service during that time.
My hobbies include interior decorating and I have turned my creative hand to many decorating projects. Including organising all the Matua Village refurbishments and decorations. Floral art is another of my passions. I take every opportunity to design and organise all the floral arrangements and flowers throughout the village.
My love of all sport extends to pretty much anything competitive and best of all I love a good laugh!
Over my life, I have enjoyed so many things but some outstanding achievements were bungee jumping, paragliding. I have also base walked off the Nova Hotel!
