At Matua Village, we want to make your desire to live in the comforts of your own home for as long as possible that little bit easier.

Matua Village has been thoughtfully designed and landscaped to make the most of its expansive ten-acre grounds. It is rare to find a retirement village this spacious and uncrowded. If you are looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy your independence while having the friendship of a small community of likeminded people, this is the retirement village for you.

Our friendly team is here to help and looks after the maintenance and security of your home and grounds so you can enjoy our beautiful gardens and abundant birdlife, take part in any of our organised or resident-led activities, or go out and about knowing that your home will be safe and sound.

You will also have the benefit of priority entry to the onsite aged care facility for 24-hour care, should you ever need it. Providing you the option  of continuing care without having to consider another move.

Things to see and do near Matua Village

Matua, Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty is a wonderful place to retire due to the mild climate and its proximity to the main centres. Alongside the facilities at Matua Village, you will find plenty to see and do nearby, such as:

Our residents love taking a stroll down the boardwalk around the Matua Saltmarsh Reserve. It’s a peaceful, easy-access walkway that takes you through the 21-hectare saltmarsh, a protected area of ecological significance. It’s a beautiful spot for bird watching and to experience the wonders of nature.

This much-loved lawn bowling club is situated on Levers Road, just a few doors down from Matua Village. Everyone is welcome at the Matua Bowling Club to play bowls, both beginners and regulars. The artificial greens are ready to go.

Matua’s Fergusson Park is a wonderful place to unwind with its coastal walkway that gives you spectacular views across Tauranga harbour to Matakana Island and The Mount. It’s a popular spot for weekend cricket and football as well as kiteboarding and paddleboarding. There is a great children’s play area, and the park is home to the Tauranga Astronomical Society Observatory.

Cherrywood Shopping Centre

The popular shops at Cherrywood are close by and you will find some great eateries here, too. The Neighbourhood Kitchen with its sunny courtyard is a great spot for coffee or a meal and Cafe Istanbul arguably serves the best Mediterranean food in Tauranga. Matua Village organises regular trips to other shopping and dining hotspots as well.

Located downtown Tauranga, Baycourt is the Bay of Plenty’s premier performing arts facility. It’s a place where people of all ages are entertained and inspired. Whether you are interested in music, theatre, comedy or a proud grandparent watching children perform, there’s always something to enjoy at Baycourt.

If you would like to have a look around and see if Matua Village is right for you, we would be more than happy to arrange a time for you to visit us.
