YOU’RE INVITED TO OUR ANNUAL MATUA VILLAGE GALA DAY: 10AM – 1PM, SATURDAY 14TH MARCH

Time for a change?

Ever heard the saying “a change is as good as a holiday”?

The right change can have a positive impact on your wellbeing, lift your spirits, and break you out of your monotony by offering a fresh perspective.

Moving in your retirement years can be a time of big change. For some it is a chance to be closer to family and to enjoy the benefits of a retirement village that offers peace of mind, security (especially when travelling), maintenance free worries, and a new outlook.

When talking to the residents at Matua Village about how they felt about their move to the village, we heard that timing was key. Many recommended making the move while still relatively active and independent, so that you can get to fully enjoy the benefits that the village has to offer and establish connections within the community at a pace that suits you.

Some found that the diverse community within the village provided an opportunity to learn new things and develop new interests. While for others it was acknowledging that sometimes loneliness creeps in slowly and retirement village living had provided a sense of connection that some had been missing.

Overwhelmingly residents enjoyed their independence and privacy. Part of a village, they have a home of their own where they make their own choices and decisions, enabling them to shape their lives according to their own values and preferences. They can be as engaged or independent as they choose and this can change from day to day, at their whim.

Moving into a retirement village for most did mean downsizing. But this can be a cathartic experience as you drill down into what is most important to you. It can also be an opportunity to hand items on to loved ones, enjoying that moment of relaying the precious history that goes with it.

If retirement village life sounds like the change you have been looking for – let us show you the Matua Village way.
